About the app
What is KoiraKaveri?
KoiraKaveri is a Finnish app designed to make everyday life easier for dog owners. It brings the whole family onto a shared platform where you can manage your dog's routines, track its health and get expert help from an AI assistant.
How does family sharing work?
You can invite family members, friends or dog sitters to join your dog's profile. Everyone can see in real time whether the dog has already been fed, walked or given its medication. This cuts unnecessary back-and-forth messaging and makes sure important routines are not forgotten.
Is the app safe for children?
Yes! KoiraKaveri is "kid-friendly". We have minimised data collection and invested in strict data security so children can take part in dog care in a safe digital environment.
Features and AI
What AI is used in the app?
We use Google Gemini AI in the app. We chose Gemini because among the major AI providers Google is the only one that actively minimises unethical use cases and invests in renewable energy.
Is the AI assistant's information reliable?
Unlike general chat services, KoiraKaveri's AI is connected to an extensive academic and professional veterinary database. Keep in mind, however, that it is still an AI and is not always correct, even though we do our best to limit its answers to verified information.
Payments and subscriptions
Does every user need their own subscription?
No, the subscription is per household. You only need to make sure that the plan you pick is suitable for the number of users in your household.
How are payments and subscriptions handled?
Subscriptions are managed and billed via Google Play or Apple's App Store depending on which device and app store you use. You can manage your subscription directly from your device's subscription settings.
How can I cancel my subscription?
Cancelling is easy: do it either directly in the app or from the subscription settings of your device's app store (Google Play or the App Store).
🔄 Changing your subscription (downgrade)
What happens if I downgrade to a cheaper plan?
We understand that needs change. With KoiraKaveri you can downgrade your subscription at any time without fear of losing your data. Our goal is to keep your dog's life history safe even if your subscription tier changes.
Is my data preserved?
Yes. None of the data you have stored is deleted from the app when you change your subscription. All diary entries, poop history, photos and training results stay in our database.
What if there are too many members for the new plan?
If your household has more members than the new tier allows (e.g. you move from Pro to Premium):
- The most recently added users are automatically moved to View mode (read-only).
- In View mode the user can still see the dogs' information and shared history, but they can no longer add new entries, edit routines or manage the household.
What if there are too many dogs for the new plan?
If the number of dogs exceeds the limits of the new plan:
- The most recently added dogs are moved to dormant mode.
- Information about a dog in dormant mode cannot be viewed in the app and the dog does not show on the home screen.
- Important: The dog's profile and history are not deleted. The data is just "locked" until dog slots free up or the subscription tier is raised again.
How do I get the locked data back?
If you later decide to return to a larger plan (e.g. you resubscribe to Pro), all restrictions are removed immediately:
- Users who were in View mode get their editing rights back.
- Dog profiles in dormant mode and their full history are reopened automatically for use.
Can I choose which user gets restricted?
The automation chooses which members and dogs get restricted based on the order they were added (most recent first). If you want to change this, we recommend manually removing the members whose rights you no longer need before changing plans.
What happens to Sitter Mode if I switch to Premium?
Because Sitter Mode (the dog sitter feature) is only available on the Pro tier, it stops working when you downgrade. Active sitter periods end and the sitter view closes.
When does the change take effect?
Subscription changes are managed through the App Store or Google Play. The subscription usually stays active until the end of the current billing period, after which the new restrictions take effect in the app.
Privacy and GDPR
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You have full control over your data. You can delete your account and all related data at any time from the app's settings.
Can I download my data from the app?
Yes. In line with GDPR you can request a copy of all data stored about you (right to data portability). We will send the data to you in a commonly used digital format.
Do you track my location?
We do not track your GPS location in real time. We do not need information about your precise movements.
Why does the app ask for my city?
You can enter your city voluntarily. We use this information to provide more accurate local AI suggestions, such as walk ideas based on the local weather forecast or information about local services in your area.
Why should I set my time zone?
We recommend setting your time zone so we can make sure you receive notifications and reminders at the right time. This avoids sending notifications in the middle of the night or when you don't want to receive them.
